Dave Loverock built a 45-year career in ice making with a simple philosophy:

“There’s always something new to learn and share.”

A respected industry ambassador, he took pride in elevating the profession, creating innovative solutions when tools were lacking.

Through his teaching clinics, Dave shared his vast knowledge with humor and practical demonstrations, helping others master ice-making techniques. His passion for the craft led him to extraordinary feats, such as flying through smoke from burning oil wells in 1991 to install ice in Kuwait.

Dave formed strong relationships with NHL facilities and arenas worldwide, providing expertise in fast changeovers, board systems, and HVAC upgrades. Among his many contributions to the industry, Dave provided on-site support for Winter Olympic Games (beginning in 1984), numerous televised figure skating specials, and unique projects.

Notably, he played a key role in the 2004 installation of the largest mesh logo stencil—shaped like the United States—on the ice at Rockefeller Center for NBC’s election coverage. Though involved in high-profile projects, his true passion was mentoring future ice-making professionals.

As he often said, “Don’t work for recognition, but do work worthy of recognition.”
